Reviews

"This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a place centrally located on the Cape. (Google Maps had no trouble finding it from the directions, but older Garmin device missed it by 3 miles). The cottage is not large, but it does not feel cramped with the 3 bedrooms, family space, and fully functional but small kitchen (easier when 1 person is in it than 2). We had a rainy day on our trip, and we stayed in. No one felt like they were tripping over each other. So it was a perfect size. The screened in porch was wonderful for relaxing. It is a quiet area. Limited traffic and even being several hundred yards from the beach, with the windows open, I could hear the waves. Great sleeping with wave sounds. If you aren’t planning to eat out, the kitchen is fully stocked for cooking and it is a full-size fridge.  If you are mobility limited but can walk, the cottage is easy to use. Handicapped accessible beaches are within about 5 miles (Coast Guard Beach). That would be the only heads up I would give. Maguire Landing/LeCount Hollow beach is about a 20 - 30 foot sand dune climb to get to the beach closest to the cottage. Marconi Beach is about 3 miles and while it has a dune cliff, it has stairs that are negotiable. If you can get up early, the sunrise over the water is wonderful. The cottage is airy with great skylights and the host was great with recommendations on where to eat. We definitely will go back if we want to be on the Cape again." --S.C.  Middletown, PA

“Cliffside cottage was the perfect place for our fall getaway! The space was clean, bright, and inviting. Warm and cozy on a stormy autumn night, cool and breezy on a sunny afternoon. The bed was so comfy! We loved falling asleep to the distant roar of the sea. The cottage is a quick walk to beautiful beaches and is centrally located near all points on the outer Cape. Plenty of books, movies, and games to keep everyone happy on a rainy day. An absolute gem! We enjoyed our stay so much and we hope to return again soon!” -K. H., South Hadley, MA

"We had a lovely time! The location is incredible. The most important aspect of planning our vacation was finding a place where we could easily walk to the beach. The walk was literally less than five minutes, and the beach was absolutely beautiful. As someone who grew up visiting the lower parts of the Cape, I had no idea how spectacular the National Seashore is. I enjoyed the vibe of Wellfleet and found it to be less crowded than other Cape destinations. Armand was super nice and gave us a great overview of the cottage and the surrounding areas. We hope to be back in the future!” -V.G. New York, NY

"Amazing Surfside cottage with a great location. The cottage has lots of updates was perfect. Easy walking to the beach. Close to many restaurants. Armand and Lisa were amazing hosts with great communications. Highly recommend this for your Cape Cod needs." -D.M. Columbus, GA

"Cliffside allows you to slow down and enjoy the little things that make life special. This was our second stay at Cliffside and we hope there will be many others. We love this cottage. Wonderful kitchen with delightful yellow dishes, comfy beds, cozy decor, lots of light via all the windows and skylights, fireplace for chilly evenings and an extra shower outdoors for sandy toes. Didn't use the available internet and glad there is no tv. Lots of family games and books to enjoy! Great little walk to the beach. The multitude of songbirds in the pines surrounding the cottage will make sure you don't miss the sun rising over the ocean. Location is close to everything on the Cape. Spending time away from Cliffside can be difficult though. A second coffee in the screened in porch makes you want to linger all day. Armand and Lisa make you feel right at home when you arrive and are always happy to recommend local restaurants, provide assistance and ensure your stay is perfect in every way. East coast hospitality at it's very best! If you want to step away from the hurried pace of everyday life, then Cliffside is the place to relax!" --Ferguson family, Ontario, Canada
MANAGER'S REPONSE: "Cliffside cottage now has cable TV a DVD player with movies and Wi-fi Internet access"

"Internet reviews are a double-edged sword: on one side we want to rave about Cliffside cottage in Surf Side Colony because it is a 60's gem lovingly restored and updated without losing sight of the original "cottage" appeal, and on the other we want to keep it a secret, all to ourselves. Armand and Lisa warned us about the danger of staying there and perhaps becoming honorary "Cape Codders." We needed no warning. We've been staying at the Colony since 1961, and the family that now owns Cliffside has succeeded in bringing us back to those wonderful, sand-filled early years of beaches and wood fires and striped bass and shells, when things seemed easier, and a rainy-day trip to shop in Orleans was magical. We'll be back next year, and don't even think about renting for our weeks. Take whatever time you can get of this cottage. We promise, you'll come back." --The Longhi Family, Western Massachusetts

"This place is so nice to come home to after a day at the beach, a bike ride, or a rainy day out shopping. The kitchen is great, the beds are comfortable, and it is very clean. We loved that it is updated. It feels really good inside. Just a short walk to an amazing ocean beach. We had a wonderful week with our family. The property managers are wonderful, too. They are very helpful. We will definitely be back. We found our yearly family vacation destination." --Family of 4, NY
